Laura & Rob's Wedding at The Manor

Working on Laura & Rob’s wedding was extra special for us, as Laura is a fellow sorority sister and friend. Not only that, Laura is also one of the kindest and most philanthropic person we know and it was an absolute pleasure and honour for us to be a part of her most special day.

Laura & Rob wanted each part of their wedding day to be a reflection of their outgoing personalities and fun loving nature. Big & bold pops of purple, bright pink and fuschia adorned each centerpiece, along with lots of different greenery, like moss and ferns. Their chuppah, which was situated outside, in front of a gorgeous lake and vast field, perfectly complimented the whimsical and colourful centerpieces, created by Toronto Florist Shop. As well, the bride’s bouquet, designed by Sweet Woodruff, was a sporadic, yet beautiful blend of different florals, colours and textures.

Our favourite aspects of the wedding were the oversized Love balloons and the bagel bar wedding favour station. Each guest took home a pre-packaged box with bagels from Montreal or Toronto, along with their choice of various spreads, such as peanut butter, cream cheese and nutella. We thought it was such a cute and original idea!

Laura & Rob are truly a match made in heaven and their creative and fun spirit was clearly reflected throughout every aspect of their wedding.

We want to thank all of the amazing vendors involved:

La Belle Amour Featured on Wedluxe

Every year, we have the privilege to coordinate a style shoot stemming from a concept we decide upon. This year, we were so excited to find out that the theme for the fall/winter issue was "literary love". We took this theme and came up with La Belle Amour which was inspired by the classic Beauty & The Beast. We were so lucky to have so many talented vendor friends come on board to make this concept come to life. It was truly amazing and we hope you love it as much as we do!

Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations!

After all of the hustle and bustle of planning a wedding, it is refreshing to know that your perfect honeymoon is just around the corner.

Check out the following top 10 honeymoon destinations:

1.      BORA BORA

The small island of Bora Bora overflows with beauty. Dormant volcanoes rise up at its center and fan out into a lush jungle before spilling into an aquamarine lagoon. The very definition of a tropical getaway, blissful Bora Bora abounds with luxurious resorts, sunny skies, warm waters, and friendly locals.

2.      FIJI
With its turquoise waters, glittering sands, and luxe resorts, Fiji is the perfect destination for a romantic honeymoon. Celebrities themselves come to Fiji to take in the breathtaking scenery and beautiful backdrops. Plus, adventure-seekers, like surfers and divers, appreciate the island’s decent waves and coral reefs. You'll be as far from reality as possible when you're sipping Fiji Bitter Beer and watching the sun dip below the horizon. Want to go somewhere that feels beautifully close to paradise? Fiji is the place to be.

3.      JAMAICA
Without a doubt, Jamaica is the heart of the Caribbean. The birthplace of reggae music, the Rastafari movement and all-inclusive resorts, Jamaica symbolizes a place of togetherness and a totally laid-back atmosphere. Come to the land of sugar cane, coffee and limestone, and take in the majesty of Dunn’s River falls and foamy cream-coloured beaches. Jamaica is also known for unique cuisine that fuses flavors and ingredients from different cultures. It’s the perfect place to see amazing things and try new foods, and perfect for couples looking for an adventure.

4.      MAUI
Maui is one of the most popular islands in Hawaii as it offers a taste of just about everything the Aloha State has to offer, from impressive wildlife to intriguing history and culture. While on a visit here, you can sway alongside professional hula dancers, golf along coastal fairways, snorkel alongside five different types of sea turtles or simply lounge on some of Hawaii's most notable beaches.

5.      GREECE
Breathtaking Greece is your perfect destination when it comes to exquisite beaches and rich history. Make it a priority to visit Athens, if you want to learn about the rich history that’s embedded in the land. The Parthenon, Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Acropolis are just a few of the major landmarks in Athens, and there is tons to see and do, including visiting the museums and rich gardens. Wherever you dine, you can be sure to sample authentic Greek cuisine, such as moussaka (lamb and eggplant in béchamel sauce), paithakia (grilled lamb or goat chops), and traditional Greek souvlaki with tzaziki sauce. After you’ve wined and dined, remember to save time to hit the colourful beaches!

6.      TURKS & CAICOS
Turks & Caicos is the perfect getaway destination to celebrate your newlywed status and the end of all of your hectic wedding planning. With white sand bordered by shimmering azure water, colorful coral reefs, and crispy conch fritters, Turks & Caicos represents an easy, light-hearted atmosphere. Tiny, flat Salt Cay plays host to the best dives: From here, you can explore one of the largest reef systems in the world. Keep in mind that rainy season is from June to November, so hotels and airlines will slice their prices by as much as 40 percent during this period.

7.      FRANCE
What better way to celebrate the love between you and your new spouse than heading to the city of love itself! Paris, in particular, is full of life and shimmering romance as you stroll the streets hand in hand, or have afternoon tea in a local bistro. The City of Light draws millions of visitors every year with its unforgettable ambiance. Of course, the divine cuisine, stately museums, centuries old churches and vast art collections are also a must. No matter where you choose to dine, be sure to sample some French staples like soupe à l'oignon gratinée (French onion soup), croque-monsieur (a grilled cheese and ham sandwich smothered in more melted cheese), and coquilles St-Jacques (seasoned scallops topped with cheese and bread curmbs served in a shell). If you have a sweet tooth you should make room to try some elegant French desserts such as macarons, chocolate croissants, or crêpes filled with Nutella to bananas and berries. Bon appetite!

8.      TAHITI
Miles of shoreline, dozens of resorts, French cuisine to die for—Tahiti has all the makings of the perfect honeymoon destination. Here, the quirky, often chaotic atmosphere of the island's capital, Pape'ete, rubs elbows with uncorrupted natural beauty. In fact, Tahiti—the largest of French Polynesia's 118 islands—is often referred to as two separate islands despite them being joined by a tiny land bridge. Note that spending a week on either part of Tahiti will cost you a pretty penny, but travelers agree that the warm waters, the lush jungles, and the luxurious resorts are well worth the splurge. On your way to Tahiti, also make sure to brush up on your French, s’il vous plait. The islanders speak both French and English, but the majority of the locals speak only French.

9.      ITALY
Italy is also very rich in history and culture, and cities like Rome, Venice, and Florence are beautiful spots to go honeymooning. Whether it's the mystery of nearby Vatican City or the ghosts of the Colosseum, an afternoon caffè on Piazza Navona or a piled-high plate of pasta at a trattoria, Rome is sure to enchant. Florence is also a beautiful place to visit. This little city, tucked amid the Tuscan hills, is full of Italian history.  With fashionable Italians and chic shops, you might think you had traveled back in time to the 14th century. But Renaissance art is not the only reason to come: You’ll also visit Florence for its gorgeous sunsets, its Italian cooking and its unbeatable romantic charm. Venice is enchanting, and once you see the "City of Water" for yourself, you'll surely agree. Water taxis bob along the Grand Canal, drifting underneath the Ponte degli Scalzi (Bridge of the Barefoot). You might hear the faintest hint of a serenading violin, and romantic gondolas carrying smitten couples coast along the web of waterways. Things to keep in mind? Leave the diet behind. Italian cuisine is full of heavy rich pastas such as fettuccini, linguini, and mouth-watering ravioli.

10.      KENYA
Lapped by the Indian Ocean, straddling the equator, and with Mount Kenya rising above a magnificent landscape of forested hills, and wooded savannah, Kenya is a richly rewarding place to travel for your honeymoon. The country’s dramatic geography has resulted in a great range of natural habitats, harbouring a huge variety of wildlife, while its history of migration and conquest has brought about a fascinating social panorama, which includes the Swahili city-states of the coast and the Maasai of the Rift Valley.
Kenya’s world-famous national parks, safaris and the culture of tribal peoples will enlighten you.  You’ll find warmth and openness, and an abundance of superb scenery – rolling savannah home to Maasai herds and wild animals, highlands grazed by cattle and sheep, and dense forests full of monkeys and birds. Kenya, beautiful and rich in land and history will be a perfect honeymoon spot for the adventurous bride and groom.

Wedding Jewelry Tips 2015

After a bride picks out her stunning, jaw-dropping bridal gown that she’s fallen head over heels (literally) in love with, the second most exciting thing to do is to choose her wedding accessories and jewelry! This is a very important part of the bridal attire planning process as jewelry helps you define your overall look and can accent your dress and features beautifully. Look for pieces that not only make a statement, but pieces that you know will portray the perfect image that you’re looking to showcase come wedding day. Here are a few tips on selecting the perfect wedding jewelry.

Bridal Earrings

Earrings are one of the most important pieces of wedding jewelry besides your engagement ring and wedding band. They are the finishing touch to any outfit, and besides adding to the beauty of your completed look, they frame your face and highlight aspects of your make up and facial features. Before you settle on those lovely pair of sparklers, however, there are a few things to keep in mind. Have a look at your dress and note the features and embellishments. You want your earrings to compliment the accents of your gown, not overpower them. If your dress is extravagant, make sure that your earrings are more subtle. Drop earrings or pearls are perfect for that subtle, low-key look. Likewise, if your dress is simpler in style, choose earrings that will help the dress to stand out a little more. White crystals or even coloured stone earrings such as ruby or sapphire will help give that beautiful edge to your dress and overall bridal look. Also figure out what kind of hairstyle you’re going to have on your wedding day; hair up or down? In a bun or flowing elegantly down your back? You don’t want your earrings to get caught in your hair or be uncomfortable.

Necklace

The wedding necklace that you wear will depend upon the style of your wedding dress, the type of neckline, and how much detail the neckline and bodice has. Again like the earrings, you don’t want your necklace to upstage the features of your dress or to outshine them; you want them to compliment your dress and give a nod to the overall statement you want to portray on your wedding day. If your dress has lots of details and intricate beading and embellishments, a necklace probably isn’t necessary. Let your dress speak for itself; you don’t want a look that’s too busy. As a last necklace tip, generally try to go with the neckline of your dress to determine what kind of neck jewellery you should wear. For a strapless dress, feel free to wear what you love, and don’t be afraid to show off your neckline with a flattering piece.  For scoop, square, or sweetheart necklines, try to find a necklace that will go with the shape and flow of the neckline. The more it compliments your dress, the better. If your dress has a halter top neckline or features a single strap, let the neckline do the talking, along with your earrings and any bracelets you’ll be wearing on the day of.

Bracelets
Help put together your entire wedding look with a beautiful bracelet that is sure to be a real stunner. Slip on a simple chain, that’s both elegant and stylish, or, make a bold statement with a festive sparkler that jingles as you party. Make sure you don’t plan on wearing a long sleeved wedding gown or gloves if you want to adorn your wrist with a bracelet, as your special piece may not be seen this way. A bold bracelet is also great if your dress has a simple neckline or you’re choosing not to wear a necklace. Remember to choose the piece of jewelry that you want to stand out the most so that everything coordinates and compliments each other.

Hair Accessories and Headpieces

While you’re trying on different types of beautiful wedding jewelry for your big day, don’t forget to also consider what you’ll be wearing in your hair. Headbands, tiaras, headpieces, combs, fresh flowers and even hats can all help to complete the perfect bridal look. Remember to stick to one type of accessory for your hair, and play that up to its fullest so that it creates the look you want without it being overpowering.

Headbands do an excellent job of keeping hair off your face so that everyone can see your beautiful bridal glow in your eyes and in your cheeks.

If you want to go for a princess look by using a tiara, rhinestones are always popular and they catch the light beautifully.

Headpieces are also lovely, and you can choose from an array of materials to place in your hair. Some pieces are made out of plastic and some are made of more sturdy material and decorated with rhinestones, lace, pearls, crystals, silk flowers, or even sequins. Depending on the style of the headpiece, these can work with either short or long hair, and some designs are even built into a comb from which you can attach a veil to. There are many options out there so try everything to see what you like, and don’t be afraid to experiment with pretty colours, textures, and materials to find pieces that are just right for you.
